Dear MFM/BCCA Members and Friends,

Thank you for your patience as the MFM/BCCA Board of Directors worked with the staff to finalize a plan for our postponed conference – Media Finance Focus 2020. Keeping attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and speakers safe was our primary reason for that decision.

While exploring options, we couldn’t help but be focused on how important our annual conference is to ensuring that you have the latest information about the media industry. That’s our mission and it’s even more critical today. We are also aware of the key role Media Finance Focus plays in the annual financial health of MFM.

With that in mind, last Friday, April 10th, the Board voted unanimously to transform Media Finance Focus 2020, MFM & BCCA’s 60th Annual Conference, into an exciting virtual event. Instead of in-person meetings, this safer method protects everyone’s health while preserving the educational and informational opportunities you’ve come to expect.

This is all new and we have a lot of work to do. Here’s what we can tell you to expect (so far):

  • Four virtual sessions a week over the course of 10 weeks, starting the week of June 15th and concluding in August, for a total of 40 one-hour sessions. Full registrants may attend up to 20 of these one-hour sessions. We’re already in the process of creating the sessions in a way that allows you to interact with presenters in real time. Each one-hour session will include media-specific information not offered elsewhere.

  • Roundtables and other bonus events - Full registrants will be able to participate in roundtable sessions, and, in the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing news about more exciting virtual events to help recreate the conference experience you’ve come to expect.

  • The option to earn CPE credit for each session attended - All sessions will be Group Internet Based Live.

  • Spotlight on sponsors - Sponsors’ businesses are critical to media companies’ success. Their support is also crucial to the success of the conference and the association.

As you have not registered for the conference, we would like to give you the opportunity to do so now. We have prepared three options to allow you to select one that meets your needs:

  1. Register at the full Early Bird rates published earlier – rates have been extended through May 31, 2020. This will entitle you to a 25% discount that will be applied to your registration for Media Finance Focus 2021 to be held in Tampa, Florida. As an added bonus, and as a thank you for your patience and flexibility, we will honor the 2020 rate you paid for the Media Finance Focus 2021; and you will already have the 25% credit toward that price. (Please note that registrations are specific to an individual and may not be shared.)

  2. Register at the Virtual Conference Early Bird rate. Early Bird rates have been extended through May 31, 2020.

  3. Select individual sessions with a la carte pricing as follows:

    • Corporate Members - $65 per one-hour session

    • Members - $75 per one-hour session

    • Non-Members - $85 per one-hour session

The Board, the MFM/BCCA staff, and our committee members are committed to making the virtual conference as accessible, inclusive, and participatory as possible. To make this new format engaging and interactive, we’ll take advantage of exciting technology that will enable attendees to experience these virtual sessions as if they are in the same room with speakers.

MFM is a non-profit organization; we are sincerely appreciative of the support from our membership base, committees, conference sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, and panelists. Additionally, we are committed to sustaining the Associations and their contributions to the media and entertainment industry while making this virtual version of Media Finance Focus a memorable and valuable experience for everyone involved. Your support and participation will allow us to remain strong and continue to serve the professional development needs of the media and entertainment industry well into the future.

Other Things to Consider

Annual Membership Meeting

We are looking at alternate options to hold our Annual Membership Meeting and will contact all members when we have finalized the decision. Scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 26. Details will be sent to all active MFM members.

Award Recipients

We are grateful for the contributions that this year’s award recipients have made to MFM and BCCA. We are committed to recognizing those individuals and will be featuring them in the upcoming summer issue of The Financial Manager.

Your participation is important to the organization. If you have any questions, please email info@mediafinance.org.

We appreciate the desire to meet in-person with your peers throughout media, and we look forward to offering you plenty of opportunities to do just that when the time is right. In fact, we’re already planning ahead for 2021, when we’ll reconvene our in-person conference in Tampa, Florida, May 23-26. Until then, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in cyberspace this summer.
